Buying a Special UK Mobile Number
Learn how special, VIP and bespoke UK mobile numbers work, including availability, ownership and mobile plans.
What is a special or VIP mobile number?
It is a UK mobile number selected for a memorable pattern, repeated digits or an easy-to-remember sequence. VIP is a way of describing particularly distinctive numbers; it does not change the network service supplied with the number.
Are the numbers shown on your website available?
Numbers shown as available can be purchased, subject to another customer completing checkout first. Availability is checked again during the order process.
Can I request specific digits or a particular pattern?
Yes. You can browse live inventory for patterns or make a bespoke request if you have particular digits in mind. Exact matches depend on what is available.
Can you find numbers that aren't listed on the website?
We can search for a bespoke number request where possible. Share the digits or pattern you want and we will confirm the options and any applicable price before you decide.
How long does a Bespoke search take?
Timing depends on the digits and network search required. We will give you an update when suitable options are found; contact support if you need the current status of a request.
Do I own the number after purchasing it?
The purchased number is allocated to your order and can be used with the selected delivery method or transferred to a supported UK network. Its continuing service remains subject to the network's terms.
Can I buy a number and keep it without using it?
You should keep the number active by using it at least once within every three months. Extended inactivity may lead to network disconnection.
Does the purchase price include a mobile plan?
Not necessarily. The number purchase and a SIM-only plan are separate unless your order specifically says a plan is included. See the current plan selection for available network and billing options.
PAC Code, Physical SIM or eSIM โ Which Should I Choose?
Compare PAC Code, physical SIM and eSIM delivery before buying a special UK mobile number.
Compare options
| Delivery option | Best for | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| PAC Code | Customers who already have or plan to obtain a UK SIM/network | PAC code used to transfer the purchased number |
| Physical SIM | Customers who want the number supplied on a SIM card | Physical SIM delivered to the customer |
| eSIM | Customers who want digital activation | eSIM where supported |
What is PAC Code delivery?
PAC means Porting Authorisation Code. With PAC delivery, we supply the code needed to transfer the purchased mobile number to a compatible UK SIM and network that you choose.
Does PAC Code delivery include a SIM card?
No. PAC Code delivery normally provides the PAC only; it does not automatically include a physical SIM card or eSIM. Choose a SIM delivery option if you need the service supplied by Numbers Market.
Who should choose PAC Code delivery?
Choose PAC if you already have an active UK SIM or plan to obtain one and want to move the purchased number to that network. The receiving network handles the final inbound port.
What is Physical SIM delivery?
We send a physical SIM card containing the service needed to use the purchased number. Delivery, activation and any later transfer follow the instructions supplied with your order.
What is eSIM delivery?
An eSIM is a digital SIM profile delivered for compatible devices and networks. You install it using the supplied activation instructions; device, network and country support must be checked first.
I already have a UK mobile contract. Which option should I choose?
PAC is usually the best fit if you want to bring the purchased number to your existing or chosen UK network. Check that your network accepts the transfer and that your SIM can be active for the port.
I don't have a UK SIM or mobile account. Which should I choose?
A physical SIM or supported eSIM is normally more suitable because it gives you a service on which to activate and use the number. Check eSIM and network compatibility before ordering.
I selected PAC but wanted a physical SIM. What should I do?
Contact support as soon as possible with your order number. We will check whether the delivery method can still be changed; this depends on fulfilment status and applicable terms.
Can I change my delivery method after ordering?
Sometimes, if fulfilment has not started. Contact support promptly with your order number and we will confirm what is possible for that order.
How long does delivery take?
The product or order-specific estimate takes priority. As general guidance, connection or delivery may take around 10โ15 working days where applicable; physical SIM and eSIM timing depends on the selected product.
How to Transfer Your Number Using a PAC Code
A clear guide to using a PAC code to transfer your purchased UK mobile number to your chosen network.
How it works
- Activate your new or existing SIM โ The SIM receiving the purchased number should be active.
- Give your PAC to your chosen network โ Submit the PAC supplied by Numbers Market to the receiving network.
- Wait for the transfer โ The receiving network will provide the expected transfer date.
What is a PAC code?
PAC stands for Porting Authorisation Code. It authorises a UK mobile network to move the purchased number onto an active SIM on that network.
When will I receive my PAC?
We send the PAC using the delivery method and order process shown at checkout. If you have not received it within the order estimate, contact support with your order number.
How long is a PAC valid?
PAC codes are normally valid for 30 days from issue. Use it promptly and follow the receiving network's instructions.
How do I use my PAC?
Activate the SIM that will receive the number, then give the PAC to that network through its online account, app, phone service or shop process. The network will confirm the transfer date.
Can I transfer the number to any UK network?
You can generally transfer to a UK network that accepts the number and port request. Compatibility and the receiving network's checks apply, so confirm with them if unsure.
Can the purchased number replace my existing mobile number?
Usually, yes: the receiving network can port the purchased number onto an active SIM. Ask the network how its process treats the temporary number and any existing service.
What happens to the temporary number on my SIM?
It is normally replaced when the purchased number transfers. The receiving network can confirm the exact timing and any service changes.
Can I keep my existing mobile plan?
Often, if the receiving network allows a number port onto that plan. Confirm the account requirements, as the network controls the final port and plan terms.
How long does the transfer take?
The receiving network sets the expected transfer date. Many ports complete on the date they provide, but account checks or incorrect details can delay the process.
My PAC secure link doesn't work. What should I do?
Check that you are using the latest link and the email address or details connected with the order. If it still fails, contact support and include your order number so we can check the link.
My PAC has expired. What happens?
An expired PAC cannot normally be used. Contact support to request a replacement; a replacement may require a ยฃ35 administration fee.
My new network says the PAC isn't working. What should I do?
Ask the network to check the code, number, account details and expiry date. If those details are correct, contact Numbers Market with the network's message and your order information.
My port is delayed. Who should I contact?
The receiving network controls the final inbound port, so contact it first for the transfer status. Contact Numbers Market as well if the PAC or purchased-number details appear incorrect.
Order Processing, Delivery Times & Tracking
Understand what happens after checkout, typical delivery estimates and how to get an order-specific update.
What happens after I place my order?
We review the order, begin the relevant connection or fulfilment steps and send the delivery or transfer information for the option selected. Your order confirmation contains the most relevant estimate.
How long will my order take?
Use the estimate shown on your specific product or order. General guidance is approximately 10โ15 working days for connection or delivery where applicable, but the order-specific ETA takes priority.
How long do standard orders normally take?
Standard orders can take around 10โ15 working days where connection or supplier processing is required. This is guidance only; your order's displayed estimate is the one to follow.
How quickly are Exclusive numbers delivered?
Eligible Exclusive orders placed before 12:00 can receive next-working-day UK delivery. Eligibility, fulfilment status and the product/order estimate still apply.
How long do Vodafone special numbers take?
Vodafone special numbers typically take 3โ5 working days. The estimate on your specific product or order takes priority.
How long do O2 special numbers take?
O2 special numbers typically take 7โ10 working days. The estimate on your specific product or order takes priority.
Why isn't my order dispatched immediately?
Some numbers require network connection, supplier checks or fulfilment before dispatch. We can only dispatch when those steps are complete and the selected delivery method is ready.
When will my physical SIM be sent?
The physical SIM is sent after the order reaches the required connection or fulfilment stage. Tracking is provided when available; the order-specific estimate remains the best guide.
How can I track my order?
Use the tracking link supplied in your dispatch email when a physical delivery has been sent. If you do not have a link, contact support with your order number for a status check.
Why haven't I received tracking yet?
Tracking is normally available once a physical item has been dispatched. If the order is still being connected or prepared, tracking may not exist yet; contact us and we will check the current status.
My estimated delivery date has passed. What should I do?
Contact support with your order number and purchased mobile number. We will check the current fulfilment or delivery status and explain the next step.
Activating, Using & Keeping Your Number
Find out when your number becomes usable, what your SIM can do and how to keep the service active.
When can I start using my number?
You can start once the SIM or eSIM is activated and the number is connected. Follow the activation instructions in your order email; a ported number becomes usable when the receiving network completes the transfer.
Is my physical SIM already activated?
Not always. Activation depends on the product and order stage. Check the instructions supplied with the SIM and contact support if you are unsure whether connection has completed.
Can I make calls and send texts?
A connected, active service should support calls and SMS according to its network and plan. If either does not work, restart the device, check signal and contact support if the problem continues.
Can I use mobile data?
Mobile data depends on the active network, plan, device settings and coverage. Confirm that mobile data and the correct APN are enabled, then check the plan's allowance.
Can I use my number for WhatsApp?
You can generally try to register the number once it can receive the required SMS or call. Acceptance and verification remain subject to WhatsApp's own verification requirements and security checks.
Can I receive verification codes?
An active service can generally receive SMS verification codes, but banking, apps and other third parties set their own rules and may block or require additional checks for some numbers.
Can I move the number to another network later?
Usually, yes. You can request a PAC or follow the current network's porting process, subject to the service being active and the receiving network accepting the transfer.
Do I need to use the number regularly?
Yes. We recommend activity at least once within every three months, such as a call, text or other chargeable/useful service activity where supported.
What happens if I don't use it?
Extended inactivity may result in the network disconnecting the service. We cannot guarantee that a disconnected number can be recovered.
Is ownership permanent?
The number is allocated for your use after purchase, but continued service depends on network rules, payment where applicable and keeping the number active. It is not a guarantee against network disconnection.
International Customers, Delivery & Roaming
Understand international delivery, eSIM options and the network and plan limits that apply to roaming abroad.
Can I buy a UK mobile number if I live outside the UK?
In many cases, yes. Delivery, identity checks, activation and network support can vary by product, so tell us where you live and how you intend to use the number before purchasing where appropriate.
Can you send a physical SIM internationally?
International physical SIM delivery may be available for some products and destinations. Delivery times, customs and carrier restrictions apply; confirm your destination with support first.
Can I choose an eSIM instead?
You may be able to choose an eSIM where the device, network and product support it. This can avoid physical delivery, but it does not remove network or country restrictions.
Will my UK SIM work abroad?
It depends on the network, plan and destination. Roaming availability, charges, coverage and data allowances vary, so check the current plan terms before travelling.
Can I activate the SIM outside the UK?
Some services can be activated abroad, while others require a UK connection or network step. Confirm the intended country and product with support before ordering.
Can I receive calls and SMS abroad?
This depends on roaming being enabled for the network, plan and destination. Incoming calls or messages may have limitations or charges; check the current roaming terms.
Can I receive WhatsApp verification codes abroad?
You may receive a code if the active service can receive SMS or calls abroad, but WhatsApp controls verification and may apply its own security checks. We cannot guarantee acceptance.
Can I keep the number permanently while living abroad?
You should keep activity on the service at least once every three months. Long-term use abroad remains subject to the network's roaming, fair-use and disconnection rules.
Is roaming unlimited?
No universal promise can be made. Roaming depends on the network and plan; destination coverage, data allowances, charges and fair-use restrictions vary.
Which network is best for international use?
There is no single best network for every destination. Compare the current roaming terms, coverage and allowances for the country you plan to use before selecting a network or plan.
Do I still need to keep the number active abroad?
Yes. The same activity guidance applies abroad: use the number at least once within every three months. Extended inactivity can result in network disconnection.
SIM-Only Plans & Choosing a Mobile Network
Learn how SIM-only plans relate to special numbers and compare the supported UK network options.
Does my special number include a SIM-only plan?
A number purchase does not automatically include a SIM-only plan unless the product or order explicitly says so. Plan availability and billing are shown separately.
Can Numbers Market provide a SIM-only plan?
Current SIM-only plans may be available through the site's plan selection. Choose from the live options so network, allowance and price information stays current.
Which networks are available?
Current supported examples include O2, Vodafone, EE and Three. Availability depends on the live plan catalogue and the product you select.
Can I use my own network instead?
Yes, if you choose PAC delivery and your network accepts the port. The receiving network handles the final inbound transfer and its own account checks.
Can I use my existing contract?
Often, yes. Ask your network to port the purchased number onto your existing service and confirm any account, plan or contract requirements with them.
Can I get unlimited data?
Some live plans may offer unlimited data, but availability and fair-use terms can change. Check the current plan details rather than relying on an evergreen article.
Are SIM-only plans monthly?
SIM-only plans are generally monthly rolling services where offered. Your chosen plan's terms show the renewal and cancellation arrangements.
When will I be billed?
Billing timing is shown before card authorisation and follows the selected plan's terms. Check your confirmation or contact billing support if a charge is unclear.
Is there a spend cap?
Any spend cap or usage controls depend on the selected network and plan. Review the live plan terms before completing checkout.
Can I change networks later?
You can usually move an active number using a PAC, but a plan change or new SIM may be needed. The current network and receiving network control their respective requirements.
Troubleshooting, Cancellations, Refunds & Support
Practical next steps for SIM, PAC, order, cancellation and refund problems, plus the details support needs.
My SIM has no signal. What should I do?
Restart the device, check that the SIM or eSIM is installed correctly, confirm flight mode is off and try an area with known coverage. If there is still no signal, contact support with your number and device/network details.
My mobile data isn't working. What should I do?
Check that mobile data is enabled, the correct SIM is selected for data and your plan has allowance. Restart the device and check APN settings; contact support if the issue remains.
I can't receive calls or SMS. What should I do?
Check signal, restart the device and confirm the number has completed activation or porting. If the issue affects only one sender, check their details; otherwise contact support with examples and times.
My PAC isn't working.
Ask the receiving network to check the PAC, mobile number, account details and expiry date. Send us the network's error message if the details are correct so we can investigate.
My PAC secure link is broken.
Try the most recent link from your order email. If it still does not open or verify, contact support with your order number so we can check the secure link.
My number transfer is delayed.
The receiving network controls the final inbound port, so ask it for the latest transfer status first. Contact us if the PAC or purchased-number information appears wrong.
My PAC has expired.
An expired PAC cannot normally be used. Request a replacement from support; a ยฃ35 administration fee may apply.
I chose the wrong delivery option.
Contact support promptly with your order number. We will check whether fulfilment has started and whether a change is still possible under the applicable terms.
My order is delayed.
Send us your order number and purchased number. We will check the current connection, fulfilment or delivery status and explain the next action.
I haven't received my physical SIM.
Check the order estimate and dispatch email first. If the estimated date has passed or tracking is missing, contact support with your order number so we can investigate.
My tracking hasn't updated.
Carrier scans can take time to appear, especially after dispatch. If there has been no update beyond the expected delivery window, send us the tracking reference and order number.
Can I cancel my order?
Cancellation is not automatic or guaranteed. Eligibility depends on the order type, fulfilment status, whether sourcing or connection has started, whether transfer/fulfilment has occurred and the applicable terms.
Can I cancel an automatically fulfilled Exclusive order?
An automatically fulfilled Exclusive order may no longer be cancellable after fulfilment has taken place. Contact support promptly and we will assess the order's actual status and terms.
My order is delayed. Can I request a refund?
You can request a review, but a delay does not automatically mean a refund is due. We assess the order type, current fulfilment stage, connection or transfer status and applicable terms.
How do I request a refund?
Contact support with your order number, purchased mobile number and reason for the request. We will confirm whether the order is eligible and explain the next step under the applicable terms.
What information should I provide to support?
Include your order number, purchased mobile number, current network and a brief description of the problem. Add a screenshot where relevant, especially for error messages, tracking or PAC links.
